Compare PDFs side by side

Put two, three or four versions next to each other, scroll them together and see every changed word. Free, no sign-up, and your files never leave your device.

Drop two, three or four PDFs here

They open side by side, scroll together, and every changed word is marked.

Your files are opened on this device and never uploaded.

How it works

  1. Add your PDFs. Drop them anywhere on the tool or choose them from your computer. Each file becomes a chip; the first three open side by side.
  2. Arrange the view. Move columns left or right, hide one for a moment, or drag another chip onto a column to swap it in. All columns scroll together.
  3. Read the differences. Pick the base version with the star. Changes are marked on the pages, listed on the right, and shown as ticks on the strip beside the pages.

Why nothing is uploaded

Contracts, offers and drafts are exactly the documents you should not hand to an unknown server. Most online comparison tools upload your files to process them. This one does all the work in your browser, using the same PDF engine that Firefox uses.

We count visits to this page without cookies and without storing anything on your device, and we never see file names or content.

Questions

Is it really free?
Yes. There is no trial, no daily limit, no watermark and no account. If the tool helps you, you will be able to support it later, but comparing stays free.
Do you see my files?
No. Your PDFs are opened by your own browser and compared on your device. Nothing is uploaded to us or anyone else. You can check: load this page, switch off your internet connection, and the tool keeps working.
How many PDFs can I compare at once?
Up to four side by side. You can load more than that: every file appears as a chip above the view, and you can swap documents in and out by clicking a chip or dragging it onto a column.
How are the differences found?
The tool reads the text of each PDF and compares it word by word with the base document, the one marked Base. Words that are new or changed are marked in the other documents; words that disappeared are marked in the base. Choose any document as the base with the star button.
What about scanned PDFs?
Scans are pictures of text, so there are no words to compare. You can still view them side by side with synchronized scrolling.
The pages don't line up. What can I do?
If one version has an extra cover page, shift it down or up by whole pages with the arrows in its column header, so matching pages sit next to each other.
